Training, eligibility & experience

  • • Training: complete an approved EKG technician training program, or document qualifying work experience if your pathway allows it.
  • • Education: diploma/GED, with a provisional pathway available for eligible students scheduled to complete it within 18 months. Check the official requirements.
  • • CPR/BLS: your school or employer may require separate training. Verify those requirements directly; this is not listed here as an NHA eligibility or renewal rule.
  • • Clinical experience: NHA requires evidence of a minimum number of successful EKGs performed on live individuals (10 at the time of writing), documented on the application or attestation form.
  • • Online practice: the trainers and quizzes here do not count toward that clinical requirement — only real patients do.

Requirements are set by NHA and can change. Always confirm on the official CET page before you apply or renew.
